Vittles Cafe 501A Glossop Road, Broomhill, S10 2QE by Salma Haidrani

I go to Vittles regularly with friends, usually for ‘The Works’ breakfast. You get bacon, eggs, meat or veggie sausages, beans and tomatoes, toast and a drink - tea, coffee or orange juice - all for £6.95. It’s nicely cooked and a bargain. The staff are friendly and welcoming and Vittles Cafe is a must-visit if you’re in Broomhill.

La Vaca Restaurant 477 Glossop Road, Broomhill, S10 2QE by Briony Horner

We had never visited La Vaca before but we will be going back. It’s authentic Chilean cuisine and the restaurant is family-run. We tried mini beef and chorizo skewers and a delicious meat sharing board for the main. We were also treated to Latin American music as we ate. It was an unmissable dining experience.

Admiral Rodney 592 Loxley Road, Loxley, S6 6RU by Alison Collingwood

We went on a Friday lunch time to give my daughter a break from A level revision and sat outside on the sunny terrace overlooking the Loxley Valley. The fixed lunch is £6.50 for two courses. Daughter had scampi, chips, peas and chunky tartare sauce, I had sweet potato and spicy bean burger with seasoned chips. Both hit the spot, but the stars were the desserts, plum and raspberry frangipane and churros sundae, Spanish doughnuts with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce.
