Dragon boat racers are being recruited for a day of excitement and entertainment at Manvers Lake in Rotherham.
On July 19, teams will row across the lake on brightly-coloured Chinese dragon boats to the sound of an on-board drummer.
The popular event will raise money for Phase Worldwide, a charity which helps extremely remote Himalayan villages in Nepal, and the Manvers Lake Trust, which promotes community participation in healthy recreation.
Sarah Galvin, director of Phase Worldwide, said: “We really want to involve the whole community and we are excited about local schools, colleges, hospitals and businesses entering their teams.
“The challenge promises some spectacular racing and a fantastic day out for all the teams, their families and the public. There will be lots of fun, music and games, including a tombola, bouncy castle and donkey rides.
“Manvers Lake is a great setting and we hope to raise several thousand pounds to support both our work with remote Himalayan communities and local people through Manvers Lake Trust.”
Entry is free and fancy dress is encouraged. Call 07885 991934 or email email@example.com
