Sheffield Cineworld is marking it with a double bill screening, starting at 9.15pm on Wednesday with an IMAX showing of the 2009 Star Trek film, which was a prequel and a reboot of the franchise.
Into The Darkness will follow just after midnight. Tickets are now limited but there are other 3D and 2D screenings of the new film after midnight.
A further 140 shows are planned the following week alone at Cineworld Sheffield.
Chris Pine is back in the William Shatner role of Kirk, with Zachary Quinto as Spock, Karl Urban as Bones and Zoe Saldana as Uhura.
Anton Yelchin plays Chekov, Simon Pegg is Scotty and John Cho plays Sulu.
The previous film took us back to their roots aboard the Enterprise.
Now they face an unstoppable foe trying to destroy Star Fleet from within – the mysterious John Harrison, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, best known as BBC TV’s Sherlock Holmes.
