The film is now on general release and cinema bosses are predicting it to be the first of several big blockbuster event films for 2013...with the latest Star Trek film, Man Of Steel - the new Superman film - sand Wolverine in hot pursuit.
“It’s a great solid era for action, comic-book cinema. A great time for cinema,’’ said Andy Meakin, Cineworld Sheffield Operations Manager.
“Everyone coming out of the Iron Man 3 premiere was telling me this is the best Iron Man film yet and it paves the way for what Marvel are calling Phase Two - the build up to the next Avengers film.”
Iron Man 3 pits industrialist superhero Tony Stark, again played by Robert Downey Jr against an enemy out to destroy his world. It also stars Gwyneth Paltrow and Ben Kingsley.
Here’s what some of our winner and other invite-only guests had to say.
Montanna Speight, 16, of Doncaster, said: “I thought it was absolutely amazing and it was so unexpected, what happens in it.”
Korey Richardson, aged 8, Chesterfield, said: “It was the greatest Iron Man film I’ve ever seen.”
Scott Brady, 36, of Hillsborough, said: “A great film. Action packed and the 3D was fantastic.”
Daniel Marsh, 17, of Sheffield, said: “It was very exciting. It’s action packed and shows Iron Man’s past and future. The 3D is a very good effect. I’d like to come to see it again.”
Steve Clarke, 42, of Sheffield, said: “This is a great film. It’s bold, brash, full of sharp wit and dialogue. The dark humour cuts through the action scenes. It’s uplifting.”
Gabriel Kinneav, 19, of Sheffield, said simply: “Wow! That’s all I have to say.”
Holly Eyre, 21, of Sheffield, said: “It’s full of surprises. There’s a lot of adult humour. I’d give it seven or eight out of 10, but I’m quite harsh. It’s really good.”
