The European premiere of Tim Burton’s new animated 3D film Frankenweenie is to be beamed live into cinemas around the UK, including Sheffield’s Cineworld.
Film fans will be able to watch the Hollywood filmmaker and stars of the movie, including Winona Ryder, walking the red carpet and taking part in a question and answer session about the production.
The event takes place simultaneously at more than 200 cinemas in 30 regions across the country including Cineworld, at Valley Centertainment, near the Motorpoint Arena, as part of a new initiative to take the London Film Festival across the UK.
Frankenweenie will open the 56th BFI London Film Festival on October 10 and the public can book tickets to watch a live stream of the gala screening at their local cinema from today.
Clare Stewart, director of the London Film Festival, said: “I think it’s really great to able to take the festival out more broadly and to engage audiences across the country with what the festival has to offer.
“Given recent developments in technology, we are very keen to make cinema and events more accessible across the UK.”
Regional screenings will take place in towns and cities all over the country, including Birmingham, Brighton, Cardiff, Glasgow, Nottingham, as well as Sheffield.
Tickets to the regional screenings can be booked via the festival website at www.bfi.org.uk/lff.
