David Bowie is…, Cineworld

A documentary film tonight looks at this groundbreaking exhibition created by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

David Bowie is…features a remarkable collection of photographs, stage costumes, and other rare possessions from the singer’s archive. The exhibition was the fastest selling in the V&A’s history and is now on a global tour.

The film takes the audience on an extraordinary journey through the exhibition with special guests including legendary Japanese fashion designer Kansai Yamamoto, Sheffield’s own Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker and other collaborators, to explore the stories behind some of the key objects that document Bowie’s artistic career.

Curators Victoria Broackes and Geoffrey Marsh provide fascinating insight into the most memorable music videos and costumes, as well as more personal items such as never-before-seen handwritten lyrics, album cover artwork, set designs and diary entries.

The documentary was filmed on the closing night of the V&A exhibition in London last August.

n Local cinemas are also offering a chance to see the film The Vatican Museums tonight.

This film takes the viewer on a journey of discovery through an immense art collection that has been built up by the Catholic Church through the centuries.

For the first time ultra high definition cameras have been granted access to the museums of the Vatican City and the Sistine Chapel to create versions in both 2D and 3D.

The film is showing tonight at Odeon and Cineworld cinemas in Sheffield and the Savoy in Worksop.
