A community cinema is due to be launched in Sheffield with an interactive screening of Disney’s The Aristocats.

Handmade Cinema, which has been set up by Ellie Ragdale, is run solely by young people for the benefit of families.

Ellie, aged 24, who received funding from O2 to help kickstart her project, said: “We will get local children and families involved in creating the cinema through building sets in workshops, and on the night everyone dresses up for a really exciting experience.

“I hope to establish Handmade Cinema as Sheffield’s number one children’s interactive film club.”

Cinemagoers are being asked to dress in cat costumes for the inaugural screening, which takes place on Saturday, November 23, at 4pm in the Old Junior School in Southview Road, Sharrow.

Tickets cost £2.50 per adult and £1.50 per child.
