Film fans are in for a treat this weekend when Sheffield’s Showroom Cinema hosts the 5th Cinema Palestino Film Festival.

This year’s festival offers a range of documentary and drama films exploring issues that affect everyone – love, homemaking, and freedom – all under the shadow of a military occupation that distorts daily life for the people of Palestine.

Recent years have seen a huge growth in Palestine’s film industry, and Cinema Palestino opens with multi award-winning Art Violence by Batoul Taleb, Mariam Abu-Khaled and Udi Aloni.

The festival will also host the UK premier of a series of thought-provoking film shorts produced by the Badil Continuing Education Centre in the West Bank.

Cinema Palestino is a collaboration between Sheffield Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Yorkshire Palestine Cultural Exchange and Sheffield Showroom Cinema.
