Barnsley museum set to welcome inventor’s relative

The great-great-great-granddaughter of Barnsley inventor Joseph Bramah will visit the town’s museum today.

Florence Heller arrive at Experience Barnsley at 10am where she will attend the Archives and Discovery Centre for the first time.

Born in 1748, Bramah was a leading inventor of the industrial revolution, patenting over 18 new ideas including a new valve for the toilet, the hydraulic pump, and the Bramah fire engine.

Archives and local studies officer, Paul Stebbing, will give Florence a tour during her visit.
