Got an uncommunicative teen? Talk to the Face(book).
You might not do social media, but your kids are obsessed with it. And a survey of almost 1,000 teens by technology suppliers Logicalis says 70 per cent would be happier if they could connect with parents or grandparents on social networking sites.
Stands to reason the best way to reach them is by putting yourself on their level; after all, you did it when they were toddlers.
I’ve tried it and it works. My son will blithely ignore phone calls and texts but gets straight back to me if I tweet him; possibly out of sheer amazement that his mother is with-it enough, more likely in case I send any more and his mates spot them.
Here’s a tip, though, don’t tweet a nag. #totalwasteoftime
