Blushing bride Kaz Waterhouse had a fairytale wedding quite literally - after tying the knot in an Alice in Wonderland themed ceremony.

Kaz walked down aisle dressed as the Queen of Hearts - while her fiance Simon was the Mad Hatter.

As the couple, both aged 52, exchanged vows, they were joined by the White Rabbit - as well as Darth Vader and Batman - before being escorted to their reception by a 68-motorcycle convoy.

The pair settled on the theme after shying away from a conventional wedding and instead opting to show their personalities.

Kaz, from Sheffield, and Simon dated for two years before deciding to stage the one-of-a-kind ceremony in homage to Tim Burton’s classic fairytale remake.

They tied the knot at Ashbourne Register Office in Derbyshire before shocked passersby were treated to the flamboyant costumes and bike convoy at The Ostrich Inn in Longford.

Kaz said: “I thought he was never going to ask and that I’d never get to be a bride.

“Straight away we both knew we didn’t want a conventional wedding.

“We wanted something that would show our personalities and was fun.”

Customer care worker Kaz met Simon at a bike event in Lancashire in 2011, but she never imagined they would get married.

Then, after a year-and-a-half of long-distance dating, building surveyor Simon moved from Bournemouth, Dorset, to be with Kaz in Sheffield.

And, on their two-year anniversary - May 31, 2013 - bike lover Simon proposed.

The pair tied the knot led by a convoy of trikes and motorbikes, and the bride-to-be was escorted to the venue on a huge motorbike.

More than 320 hairy bikers came to watch during a bike rally in Derbyshire.
