Tickhill will be switching on its Christmas lights today when the town stages its seventh annual Late Night Christmas Shopping Evening from 5.30pm.
The event has been organised by the Tickhill Together volunteers and Tickhill Business Association.
Mayor Raymond Hill will switch on the lights on the giant communal Christmas tree at the Buttercross monument at 6pm.
About 65 shops will also be lighting their own Christmas trees above their premises and there will be a variety of entertainments, seasonal refreshments, outdoor stalls and children’s rides on St Mary’s Gate, which was being closed to traffic.
There will also be a Santa’s Grotto in the St Mary’s Road Scout headquarters and a Christmas Market in the big marquee located in the car park at the rear of the Scarbrough Arms, Sunderland Street.
