Magician Dynamo has wowed people around the world on his hit TV shows and now comes to Sheffield Arena on his first-ever live tour.

The demand for tickets for Dynamo’s Seeing is Believing tour is so high that a sixth date has been added next week.

Not bad for a young lad from a Bradford estate. Indeed Dynamo, real name Steven Frayne, refers to his humble beginnings in his show.

A segment seen on screen that looks like a comic strip shows the young Steven being bullied by some older boys, who throw him into a dam. After he pulls himself out, he vows to learn to walk on water.

Cue the famous scene from his TV show when he walks on the surface of the River Thames in London.

Dynamo admitted that performing a live stage show has been a big challenge after a career doing corporate events and then television.

“I felt comfortable doing street magic. A few years ago it wouldn’t have been possible in my mind. It’s time to do something that’s not typical for me.

“I wanted to give my fans a live show, to come and see it live. The first couple of shows I was really nervous, then I found I was really enjoying it.”

He added: “This has lived in my head for 12 years and I’m really excited about it.”

Dynamo said he was determined not to create a typical stage magic show. “I tried to keep as much of myself as possible, with one man on stage, not lots of dancing girls.”

Ther show features many of his most popular illusions, some given a clever new twist. ~The show combines some of the spectacular stunts with the close-up magic that Dynamo is also known for.

He spent a long time with his team creating the show, then rehearsing it in a big warehouse to get used to performing in a big space to a lot of people, rather than just a few crowded around him.

He said: “It’s possibly the most interactive show there has ever been in the UK. There is one part in the show where every single person in the room is involved in the ,magic.”

The show also pays tribute to Dynamo’s grandma, who has appeared in his TV shows, and granddad Ken, who taught him his first magic trick.

Dynamo is true to his roots in other ways. He said: “There’s bits in the show that only a true Yorkshireman will know!”

The show is at Sheffield Arena next Wednesday to Sunday, with an added Saturday matinee.
