The Voice star Emma Jade Garbutt will give a homecoming performance this weekend as part of a Tramlines festival preview at Sheffield’s Meadowhall, writes Graham Walker.

Emma, who was seen by millions of TV viewers on talent shows Britain’s Got Talent and The Voice, as part of Tom Jones’ team, worked at Marks and Spencer in the shopping centre.

Now she is returning to her old stomping ground as part of a preview of this summer’s Tramlines Festival, which runs in and around the city centre, July 19 to 21.

VIDEO: Watch our video report for more details about this weekend’s preview with Meadowhall’s events manager Alex Caley.

The Tramlines Teaser at Meadowhall, hosted by BBC Radio Introducing host Christian Carlisle, is this Saturday and Sunday, July 6 and 7, to give music fans an exclusive preview of what they can expect at this year’s festival.

And for the slightly younger music fans on the day a children’s boating pool and kids’ activities.

Alex Caley, events manager for Meadowhall said: “Tramlines is an award-wining festival that attracts some of the biggest names from across the music industry to our region. We are delighted to be part of the festival this year and are looking forward to welcoming out very own home grown talent Emma Jade back to the Centre!

“What better way to enjoy the sunshine this weekend than with a spot of shopping at Meadowhall followed by some great live music, with a beer or some sangria outside in the Oasis courtyard – a little taste of festival life to prepare you for the main Tramlines festival!”

Sarah Nulty, Festival Director at Tramlines said: “It is great to be working with Meadowhall to provide music fans with a snap shot of what they can expect at Tramlines later in July. We are totally committed to giving up and coming artists a platform to show their talent and the Meadowhall Tramlines Teaser Weekend is another great example of that. What better way to whet your appetite and get a taste of what is to come.”

The Meadowhall Tramlines Teaser Weekend, situated outside in the Oasis Dining Quarter Courtyard, runs Saturday and Sunday, July 6 and 7, 12 noon to 6pm.
