Public Enemy member Drew told the We Are Family hit makers: “We are all family. One love.”

Joni Sledge said: “We are so excited. We brought the weather with us.

“Bring yourself. Have some fun and get loose. We really like to have fun on stage. Our musicians are maniacs and we’re maniacs. So if you’re a maniac, you’ll have fun tonight.”

Debbie said: “It’s going to be exciting. It’s going to be awesome.”

Joni said they plan to work again with Chic’s guitar hero Nile Rodgers, who with late bass legend Bernard Edwards wrote and produced their global hits, also including Lost In Music, Thinking Of You and He’s The Greatest Dancer.

“We love working with Nile, he’s fun, he’s a genius,” said Joni.

Sister Sledge were due to headline the Tramlines Main Stage on Devonshire Green Saturday, July 26, 8.30pm to 9.30pm.

Public Enemy were due to take the stage 5pm to 6pm.
