Time to samba at town bar

A TASTE of Brazil will warm up Doncaster this Saturday as a town centre restaurant and bar hosts its own Mardi Gras carnival party.

Liberty Grill on Wood Street will be raising the roof from 8pm with the event to raise money for a youth music project in Rio de Janeiro.

The event has been organised by members of Doncaster Youth Jazz Association, whose members will be entertaining diners with a cavalcade of carnival music with everything from New Orleans jazz, ska, calypso and Brazilian samba styles on the menu.

The night is to raise money to buy instruments for a music project in the city where ex-DYJA trumpet player Tom Ashe now lives, teaching brass to local children.

Liberty Grill has already made a donation of £250 and partygoers can add to the total by buying carnival masks and beads and joining a raffle on the night.

See www.toligado.org for more information.
