She was seen by millions on a hit TV talent show - and now Sheffield singer Jessica Steele is set to wow the audience at the Starlight Walk.
Jessica, a contestant on this year’s series of BBC One show The Voice, will be singing on stage as part of the pre-walk entertainment at the event, in aid of St Luke’s Hospice.
Walkers are set to complete the 5k trek on May 17 at 8.45pm, following a route from Endcliffe Park to Forge Dam and back.
Also on the bill are Sheffield band Screaming Maldini and - changing the pace somewhat - the Sheffield Harmony Chorus.
The compere for the evening will be BBC Radio Sheffield presenter Paulette Edwards.
Entertainment will start at 6.30pm, with a mass warm-up at 8.15pm. A Thornbridge Beer tent will keep crowds refreshed.
Registration for the walk costs £15 for adults and £10 for children aged five to 15. For groups of six or more, the cost of registering is £10.
Organisers say it is important for participants to start raising sponsorship cash as soon as possible - as the fee covers only the cost of staging the event.
As a guide, £50 would pay for four counselling sessions for recently bereaved relatives, and £100 would pay for four home visits to patients by a St Luke’s community nurse.
Meanwhile £200 could allow the hospice to provide nine hours of inpatient care, with £500 paying for a full 24 hours.
Choosing to ‘Gift Aid’ any of these donations means the Government would increase the amount by a quarter.
n Visit www.stlukeshospice.org.uk to register, or pick up a form from the hospice or any of the St Luke’s shops in Sheffield, fill it in and return it to the charity.
