Sheffield band Arctic Monkeys have been shortlisted for two Brit Awards.

The High Green quartet – guitarist Jamie Cook, bassist Nick O’Malley, drummer Matt Helder and singer Alex Turner, pictured above playing Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena last year – have been nominated as best British group, as well as in the best British album category for last year’s AM.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on Wednesday, February 19, where the band are due to perform.

The band have already won five Brits, as best British Breakthrough Act in 2006, best British group in 2007 and 2008, and best British album for Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not in 2007 and Favourite Worst Nightmare in 2008.
