Pupils and teachers from a Sheffield school visited Belgium for the final meeting of a project celebrating European unity.
The party from Silverdale were in Leuven for the event, funded by a group called Comenius.
The students presented a folk song, a play and prepared a ‘traditional’ British meal – Thai curry – for the enjoyment of their project partners from seven different countries.
They also took part in a range of joint activities celebrating European unity, aimed at creating long-lasting friendships.
Comenius funding comes to an end this year and will be replaced by a new programme Erasmus Plus, which the school intends to join.
Silverdale staff and students have participated in four separate Comenius projects over the last 10 years.
The final leg saw youngsters travelling around Europe, visiting Copenhagen, Palazzola and Seville, as well as Leuven.
Sixth former Lucy Robinson said: “I can honestly say that the trip to Copenhagen and the Comenius Project as a whole have been the best experience of my time at Silverdale School, both in terms of enjoyment and learning development.”
