Scottish party fun at Sheffield home

Members of the Rhythm Chaps toast the haggis with resident Glen Parker, left.

RESIDENTS of Brunswick Gardens Retirement village in Woodhouse, Sheffield, enjoyed a wee dram to celebrate Burns Night.

The event began with a meal of haggis, tatties and neeps – haggis, potatoes and turnips – and music was provided by Rhythm Chaps who played Scottish music.

Glen Parker, who lives at the complex, carried the haggis into the dining room where it was toasted by the residents with whisky.

The annual event marks the birthday of Scottish poet Robert Burns and suppers are held in his memory around the world.
