A whirlwind way to put on a musical
STUDENTS from The University of Sheffield have taken on the task of producing, promoting and performing a musical in just 24 hours from today.
The name of the musical will be revealed to the students at 7pm tonight, and must be performed to a paying audience at 7pm at the Crucible tomorrow.
Producer and maths student Tom McMahon, 21, said: “We’ll have just one day to build the set, design and distribute flyers and posters, find costumes, learn lines and songs. We also have a 25-piece orchestra who will have an entire score to learn.”
The event is to raise funds for Cavendish Cancer Care. Tickets are available on the Crucible’s website.
Big break in films
FIVE youngsters are needed to form a ‘Youth Jury’ to judge entries to Sheffield digital media festival Doc/Fest. The jurors will get first-hand festival experience, viewing shortlisted films and speaking to industry experts and world-famous documentary makers, as well as choosing the recipient of the Sheffield Youth Jury Award.
