A new charity walk linking two South Yorkshire visitor attractions is to take place next month.
The Summer Charity Stroll and Picnic takes place on Sunday June 8, starting from Elsecar Heritage Centre at 11am.
Participants will stroll three miles along the Trans Pennine Trail to RSPB’s Old Moor site, where there will be a picnic area, café, performers and music.
Walkers can catch a return coach to Elsecar or walk the three miles back to the heritage centre.
Councillor Tim Shepherd, Barnsley’s Mayor Elect, said: “This will be a wonderful summer event along the towpath of a beautiful Georgian canal and we’re encouraging those taking part to bring a picnic.
“There will be performers at RSPB Old Moor and a fantastic family atmosphere. We’ll have a kids’ history trail to keep younger walkers entertained.
“This section of the Trans Pennine Trail and Dearne and Dove Canal is brimming with history.”
