DONCASTER pop star Louis Tomlinson has told of his joy at his group, One Direction, picking up another Brit award.

The group was named winner of the new Global Success gong at the awards ceremony at London’s O2 Arena, in recognition of overseas sales of over £9 million last year.

It came in a memorable 12 months which saw them achieve two number one albums in America.

The former Hayfield School pupil and One Direction colleagues also performed their new single, One Way Or Another, on a giant pinball machine-shaped stage.

Delighted Louis, aged 21, left sixth form in Doncaster to join the group on the X Factor.

He said: “This is absolutely mind-blowing. We have to start by thanking our fans. They have been unbelievable and we obviously wouldn’t be here today without them.”
