Justin Bieber fans in tears after Sheffield date is off

HEARTBROKEN fans of pop superstar Justin Bieber were in tears today after his troubled Believe world tour date at Sheffield Motorpoint Arena was called OFF.

Devastated fans were told the show - due to take place on February 23 next year - will now not go on sale as originally planned, because of a “scheduling conflict”

Fans were already disappointed after the cancellation of a pre-sale event which meant some had been preparing to queue for 46-hours.

They expected to eventually get their hands on tickets when the UK tour, including the Sheffield stop, went on sale at 9am today.

But the city date was called off in a statement from the promoters on the Arena web site last night.

It said: “Unfortunately we have found ourselves with a scheduling conflict regarding the show that was scheduled for February 23 in Sheffield.

“We tried everything that we could to resolve the conflict but unfortunately it has not proved possible and consequently the show will not be going on-sale as originally planned.

“AEG Live would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

Twitter and other social network sites were full of comments from disappointed and confused fans, wanting a full explanation and details as to whether a new Sheffield date will now be added.

A further statement is expected.

Excited youngsters and their parents had camped out from around 11am on Wednesday to get their hands on exclusive pre-sale tickets for superstar Bieber’s concert at the Motorpoint next year.

But the chance for those early tickets was cancelled at 5.45pm on Wednesday - which meant people could either continue to wait for the general sale to start at 9am today, or potentially miss their chance to see the superstar in their home city.

Shirecliffe mum Sharon Thurstone, her daughter Frances, 17, and husband Alan had taken it in turns to stand outside the arena from 6pm on Wednesday, changing shifts in the early hours.

Sharon said: “Frances would be heartbroken if she didn’t get a ticket - she loves him. They said there was a pre-sale but then just cancelled it when everybody had geared up to get a ticket.

“My husband will have been waiting for 12 hours by the time Frances takes over again.”

Another mum, who didn’t want to be named, said: “I live in Derbyshire and made the effort to come, but everyone’s upset.

“Arena staff just came out and put up a board saying the pre-sale was cancelled and that was it.”

Canadian Bieber, who has sold millions of albums and shot to fame as a schoolboy, was due to perform in Sheffield on his second UK tour.

The platinum selling pop sensation became a worldwide star in 2009 with his debut single One Time.

He was the first artist to have seven songs from a debut album chart on the Billboard Hot 100 with his release My World.

His third studio album, My World 2.0 was released in March 2010 and spawned massive UK top ten singles Baby and Eenie Meenie.
