A MARRIED couple from Sheffield say their previously happy marriage has been rocked by their appearance in TV show Wife Swap.
Anita de Ramos says she has been left angry and upset after discovering husband Marcelo had let replacement wife Julie Griffiths sleep in the marital bed at their Ecclesfield home.
Now the pair are sleeping separately – although Marcelo insists nothing happened, and that he and Julie each went to bed separately every night.
Anita, aged 35, said: "I just don't understand why he would allow another woman into our bed.
"We'd discussed sleeping arrangements and both agreed in the end it was best if she didn't sleep in our bedroom. I understand he wanted to make her feel welcome but he should have drawn the line at letting her sleep in our bed.
"I do trust my husband, but I just can't bring myself to sleep in our bedroom and this is making me wonder if something happened."
During filming for the Channel Four show Anita moved in with Julie's salesman husband David in Worcester, while Julie, 46, came to Sheffield.
Anita, a dancer and personal trainer who regularly performs in acrobatic shows with her stuntman husband, found out Julie had been in her bed after seeing a preview of the programme which will be screened this Sunday at 8pm.
Anita said: "There's one scene showing Julie crying upstairs in our bed after her and Marcelo had a row over the rule changes. Marcelo follows her up to the bedroom and tries to give her a hug while she was crying in our bed."
She was also shocked to see mum-of-four Julie straddle Marcelo's legs when the couples met up after the swap – demonstrating what he had taught her to do to get attention from her husband when he was on the computer.
Anita said: "I couldn't believe my eyes. David was there too and he didn't say a word but his face was like thunder."
Anita said she was also upset that Marcelo opened up to Julie about his difficult childhood, even crying.
"In the 14 years we've been together I've never seen him cry like that," she said. "Now I am starting to wonder if anything else happened when the cameras stopped rolling and the camera crew left until the next morning."
Marcelo says he hopes the couple will overcome their problems and work towards a happy future together.
He said: "Before the swap Anita and I were in a happy secure marriage and now things are a little rocky in our relationship. I just hope we can sort things out."
