SLIDESHOW: Coffee morning turns back time

Dozens of Sheffield pensioners turned back the clock to enjoy a coffee morning with a difference.

The 1940s-themed event took place on Tuesday at Woodseats Methodist Church after being organised by Serenta HomeCare, of Archer Road, Millhouses.

About 80 people attended the event, including clients of the care firm who receive support in their homes, as well as members of a lunch club who meet every Tuesday.

The day included a two-course meal and performances by Sheffield Dancesport Society, with ration books and vintage postcards decorating tables.

Members of staff from the care firm also got into the spirit of the occasion, by dressing up in 1940s-inspired costumes.

Sue Pinder, a director of Serenta HomeCare, said the day had gone brilliantly and the company was now planning to organise similar get-togethers every few months.

She said: “It was fantastic. It is the first time we have organised it and it is going to be an ongoing event.

“We wanted to show there are people who care about the elderly and go the extra mile to make sure they are well looked after.”
