A medal-winning Olympian, a Paralympic world champion, an award-winning chef and a hero of local volunteering are all set for recognition at Sheffield Hallam University’s annual graduation ceremonies.
Sheffield-based Olympic silver medallist Leon Taylor, who has successfully made the transition from competing to commentating, will return to the City Hall stage on November 20 - 15 years after receiving a degree in recreation management there.
Sheffield Paralympian Karen Darke, who also receives an honorary doctorate on November 20, has been an inspiring competitor in marathons, triathlons, kayaking, sit-skiing and hand-cycling across the world.
Kevin Curley, who is honoured on November 21, is a high profile champion of local voluntary action. He was chief of the National Association of Voluntary and Community Action before retiring in January 2012.
And Fischer’s of Baslow chef Max Fischer will be honoured by the university’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Philip Jones on Friday, November 22.
