The owners of a South Yorkshire antiques shop have had a surprise visit from a famous face.

Actor Neil Dudgeon dropped in to J&B Antiques and Collectables and The Vintage Tea Room, St Mary’s Street, Penistone, for his latest TV show.

Neil – best known as Chief Inspector John Barnaby from ITV’s Midsomer Murders – is appearing on BBC Two show Celebrity Antiques Road Trip.

He is travelling around Yorkshire with antiques expert Catherine Southon to various antiques shops in search of hidden treasures to take to auction and sell for profit.

Ben Donnachie, who runs the business with dad John, said: “Although they did not buy anything from us on this occasion it was a great pleasure to have them here filming for their hit TV series.”

He said the show would help promote ‘ our lovely historic market town’

The episode is due to be aired during series four in the spring.
