Sheffield’s Broomhill Festival is in full swing celebrating its 40th anniversary – with highlights for visitors including a children’s parade, garden party and baking contest.

The party was held at St Mark’s Church and green, boasting stalls, live music and ale supplied by Abbeydale Brewery.

Meanwhile, the baking competition took place at Wesley Hall in neighbouring Crookes, seeing contestants going head-to-head to create the best cakes for judging by Great British Bake-Off stars Howard Middleton, Christine Wallace and Deborah Manger. Proceeds were shared between the Sheffield Hospitals Cystic Fibrosis fund and the Broomhill Festival’s chosen charities.

The parade involved youngsters in fancy dress marching to St Mark’s green, with prizes for everyone taking part.
