A north Derbyshire school’s folk band was featured in a BBC Radio 4 documentary covering the childhood of one of its former students.
Young musicians from Hope Valley College played in the programme about award-winning folk musician Bella Hardy.
Bella talked about her early years and about how many of her songs were inspired by the Hope Valley.
There were also contributions from a wide range of current and former pupils from the college.
Head of music Jessica Bagnall said: “For many of our students Bella is an inspiration and they were delighted to have the opportunity to meet with her and contribute to the programme.
“Our musicians dedicate a tremendous amount of time to practising and fine tuning their musical ability and the inclusion of their work in a BBC programme is a testament to their hard work and talent.”
Other musicians to have emerged from the school include Rowan Rheinagans and Eoin and Rory Loveless’ band Drenge.
