D-day anniversary show to be broadcast at Sheffield cinema

Sheffield’s Cineworld complex is to show live 70th anniversary commemorations of D-Day to be broadcast by BBC Radio 2 – with proceeds donated to The Royal British Legion, SSAFA and SkillForce.

Highlights will include Katherine Jenkins singing a duet of We’ll Meet Again with Dame Vera Lynn at The Royal Albert Hall concert.

Patrick Stewart will lead a cast of actors playing Sir Winston Churchill at the special event, while folk singer Seth Lakeman will perform a new song.

The Friday Night is Music Night concert, D-Day 70 Years On, will be shown at Cineworld, Valley Centertainment, on Friday, June 6, starting at 7.30pm.

Organisers say it will allow many veterans who are no longer able to travel to France to enjoy the event.
