Choir marks anniversary

Have your say

An internationally renowned male voice choir, which has flown the flag for the Sheffield region by bringing back honours from all over the world, will be singing itself a happy 80th next month.

Born as a small offshoot of the village church choir in 1934, Bolsterstone MVC became a successful male ensemble – and was twice the best male voice choir in the world by winning the International Eisteddfod in Wales in 1972 and 2002.

A plaque will be unveiled above the door of Bolsterstone village hall, where the choir rehearses, on Monday, August 18, by longest-serving member Raymond Pearson.
