Ballroom dance students waltz into new venue

THE passion of Latin and the magic of ballroom comes to Hillsborough in February as Sheffield University’s Dancesport competition moves to a new home.

Student ballroom dance-lovers from across the country will take part in the annual dance contest, which is usually held at the university’s Octagon Centre.

With a major refurbishment project under way at the Octagon, the 2013 event will be held at Hillsborough Sports Centre on Saturday, February 2, with the public invited to see the next generation of British dance talent take to the floor.

All money raised will go to St Luke’s Hospice in Whirlow, Sheffield.

Charlie Lowe, Dancesport Society captain, said: “This event is one of the biggest in the dancing calendar and we are delighted we have found a new home at Hillsborough.

“The standard of dance at this event is outstanding and anybody who loves Strictly will want to come along and support us because it is going to be a day to remember, with some fantastic exhibition dances and then a brilliant contest for dancers from all over Britain in the evening.”
