TWO artworks have been donated to a Sheffield gallery.

The Graves Gallery has received a welcome boost to its collections with Hew Locke’s Kingdom of the Blind #4 and #8, and Paul Morrison’s Tropopause.

Both pieces have already gone on show after being donated.

The Locke pieces were donated by an anonymous art collector, and Tropopause by Sheffield-based artist Paul Morrison with the Alison Jacques Gallery.

Sheffield now joins the likes of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the V&A, and the British Council in holding Morrison’s work its collection.

Sian Brown, curatorial services manager at Museums Sheffield, said: “It’s wonderful to see such generous support for the Graves Gallery.

“We’re thrilled that these fantastic works have been donated to the city’s collection.

“Sheffield has a really strong visual art collection including paintings by Turner, Cézanne and LS Lowry so it’s fitting to complement them with these incredible contemporary works.’
