Art to tell story of Sheffield community

ARTISTS will help a Sheffield community create their own 3D newspaper.

Residents of Parson Cross are invited to share their local stories at Soar Works Artists’s Studio, Knutton Road, this Saturday.

The event, part of Yorkshire Artspace’s annual Open Studios celebration, will use a variety of media to create the newspaper, celebrating the culture and history of the area.

The open session, from noon until 3pm, provides an opportunity for people to create locally-inspired, collaborative artwork as well as seeing how the resident artists work.

It is the first open studio event there this year.

Luisa Golob, chief executive of Art in the Park, said: “We hope taking part in this event will be a great celebration of what we’ve been doing at Parkwood Academy - bringing together different generations, fostering a sense of pride in the area, and building a sense of a creative community.”

Visit artspace.org.uk/programmes/open-studios-2012 for more details.

The event is part of Art in the Park’s Children in Need funded Parkwood Academy Project.
