Budding explorers took part in archaeology-themed activities during an open day at Boston Castle in Rotherham.

Visitors made their own fossils and archaeological ‘finds’ from clay, listened to talks given by experts, and sifted for buried artefacts using sand trays.

The event was organised by Rotherham Council to give visitors an introduction to the joys of archaeology.
