Wales High School pupils after their film festival success.

Pupils created some movie magic at a Rotherham school - and won a top award at a film festival.

Members of the Film and Animation Club at Wales High School won the Young Student Short Film award at the international St Albans Film Festival.

Their entry was The Test, a story about a group of students teaming up to cheat in a maths exam.

Students attended the sold-out screening of the shortlisted films, which were all made by youngsters aged from five to 15.

Wales media studies teacher Liam Sanderson said: “We’re absolutely thrilled.

“A great deal of hard work and time went in to making this film and to receive this recognition is amazing and will encourage the students to continue making bigger and better films.”

Judge Hilary Greatorex said: “We chose this film because it told a really exciting and brilliantly entertaining story, combining interesting camera work with great editing and excellent acting.”
