South Yorkshire singing star Tony Christie joined tributes to Take That and The Beatles at a music festival.

Dronfield’s Party In The Park saw fans of the Conisbrough-born pop legend behind Is This The Way To Amarillo join Take That tribute Rule The World.

Eagles tribute Motel California and The Beatles tribute band Johnny & The Moondogs also joined the event, held for the fourth time.

The event saw music fans pack into Cliffe Park in Callywhite Lane for the picnic-style open-air concert which was held throughout the afternoon until 11pm.

Dronfield Town Council spokesman Carole Dick said: “Everything went well, it was a success and we sold a lot of extra tickets on the day.

“We had a lot of good feedback, everybody enjoyed it.

“Tony Christie has been on the circuit for many, many years.

“This is the fourth one we have put on and we think it was one of the best.

“We had some rain but it didn’t stop anybody - they went and got brollies and came back.

“For Dronfield it was a success.”
