Thousands of screaming Olly Murs fans packed out the Motorpoint Arena as the pop sensation’s tour came to Sheffield for two thrilling nights.

The former X Factor star left fans pining for more after bringing the house down with two energetic and captivating performances on Friday and Saturday.

Murs, who despite his subsequent success in the music industry was a losing contestant on ITV’s talent scouting show in 2009, delighted the adoring crowds by performing his chart topping hits.

Among them were his four number one selling tracks, ‘Please Don’t Let Me Go’, ‘Heart Skips a Beat’, ‘Dance With Me Tonight’, and ‘Troublemaker’.

The trilby -earing 28-year-old pop icon from Essex had the excited crowd singing along as he also performed some songs from his new album, ‘Right Place Right Time,’ and kept them hooked on his every word by using his cheeky charm to talk to the audience between songs.

Murs current tour started in February and will see him performing on the road throughout March.

Social networks were abuzz with anticipation before the gigs - with fans who went confirming afterwards that the show was fantastic.

Carole Raynor tweeted: “Went to Sheffield last night and it was awesome! Just got tickets to see him in Nottingham.”

Pauline Wilson said: “What a brilliant show last night by Olly!” while Alison Copley tweeted: “Olly mania in our house last night after the Sheffield show. I love the excitement of our young girls.”

Leanne Edwards added: “Had one of the best weekends ever in Sheffield to see Olly Murs - it’s just a shame it’s all had to come to an end.”
