Doncaster singer Louis hits back at 1D jibes

One Direction

One Direction

A WEEK ago they were celebrating a Brit Award - but now Doncaster singer Louis Tomlinson’s group One Direction has been named as the worst group in the NME awards.

Former Hayfield School pupil Louis and the rest of the group won the Global Success Award at the Brits for a year which saw them notch number one albums in the US, but the NME awards saw them handed the unwanted Worst Band award last night, and criticised by rising star Jake Bugg.

Jake said he did not want to wind One Direction up. But he said: “I don’t know how they can really be considered a band though to be honest. I’m not too sure. I think the more I play on it, it’ll wind them up.”

“They’re there to look good. Music wise? I assume they don’t really have a clue.

Louis later tweeted: “Hi @JakeBugg do you think slagging off boy bands makes you more indie?”

Louis, aged 21, left sixth form in Doncaster to join the group on the X Factor.
