You can't miss the new Big Wheel on Fargate but want to see what it is like at the top?
It might be a very grey, wet day in Sheffield City Centre but we braved the elements to take a whirl on the wheel and bring you this video - there are raindrops and umbrellas galore!

See tomorrow's Star for full information on the wheel's opening and photos from the top.

What an eyesore totally out of place and so close to buildings. Surely it must have been a back handed deal to put in the most stewpid of places.Well I supose the people that ride it will beable to tellyou what is going on in the places close to it how exiting NOT.

Well i wounder how many people will ride this?
And the cost is ummm cheap?
why do the council keep embarrassing our city more and more
so many bad decisions in the last few years, train station letting big stupid tower next to big stupid over priced car park, next if you could imagine this they will kill the town center by promising to knock down shops and build new ones and then forgetting to plan the money to pay for that, bad business people very very bad.

what a waste of money, just how will a big wheel attract more people into the city. people want half decent shops, not waste money on a white elephant

Great to see something atttracitive in sheffield like the wheel, and the wheel being there is a win-win situation as it cost anything for the council to put up at all they're getting paid to have it up infact!

York got rid of theirs and they get more tourists than Sheffield so why should we want one? Some berk at the council will probably get a hugh bonus for suggesting this. Time they spent their time sorting out the 100's of real problems affecting Sheffield people.

To anyone saying that this is a waste of money, a waste of who's money? The council are being PAID to have it there!

What a joke some of the comments are on this story!!

This will bring trade into the city and the council are being paid to have it here!! So if anything they are reducing council tax.

Well done SCC for some forward thinking, this is a massive city and it is about time we got out of the “dark ages” and attracted things like this.

As for those that think it is expensive, that is your opinion. No-one is forcing you to go on it and spend your cash. You can spend you cash on whatever you like - £16 for a family ticket bought on line, cheaper than 3 packs of fags? The choice is yours!

And as for an “eye sore” it is only temporary as far as I am aware so what is the problem?

Some people posting on this story need to stop being so negative!!
