HITMAN Eliot Kennedy is boxing clever with these knockout pals to help bring World Cup football to Sheffield.
And it could see ex-world champs Clinton Woods, Tim Witherspoon, newcomer Liam Cameron and promoter Dennis Hobson fighting for a top spot in the Christmas charts.

Eliot, Sheffield's famed singer-songwriter to the stars, drafted them and others in to punch out the catchy chorus of his new charity song called World At Your Feet.

It is set for a download release in aid of a new charity project Eliot is launching, with the help of his superstar pals, called The One Song Foundation.

But he hopes the song could also become an anthem to boost Sheffield's 2018 Back the Bid campaign to bring the FIFA World Cup to South Yorkshire.

There are plans to get all the region's football managers and top players singing along - including a live performance during Eliot's forthcoming star-studded charity show, which will benefit Sheffield's Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity and Cavendish Cancer Care, at Sheffield City Hall, on December 16.

But it kicked off at his city centre Steelworks studio when the boxers, pop star Scott Anson and others turned up to sing on the recording.

Eliot, aged 40, who has written for Bryan Adams, Take That and the Spice Girls, said: "It's got a big chorus and we needed some heavyweight voices, so I was delighted when my boxing pals turned up.

"But it doesn't stop there. We're hoping to get football managers and players involved, certainly for a live performance - and we might record fans singing at local grounds. It would be great if we could use this to help bring World Cup football to Sheffield."

Sheffield's 2018 Back The Bid is supported by the Owls, Blades, Reds, Rovers, Millers and Spireites, plus 1966 World Cup winning goalkeeper and local son Gordon Banks. Soccer fans can register their support at www.sheffield2018.co.uk or text Sheffield to 62018 to back the bid.

Eliot Kennedy's Limelight Competition, a battle of the bands event featuring acts voted for by Star readers, will be at the 02 Academy Sheffield, on November 19. Tickets are £10 each from the venue, on 0844 477 2000 or online at www.o2academysheffield.co.uk

Tickets for Eliot's City Hall concert, now heading towards a sell out, are £24.50 and £29.50 each, may be subject to a booking fee. Call 0114 2 789 789 or book on line, and get updated details, at www.sheffieldcityhall.co.uk
