THE dramatic moment a Sheffield woman was nearly swept away when The Wicker became engulfed by raging flood water has been captured on video.
The footage – on our website www.thestar.co.uk – shows the woman desperately battling against a torrent of three-foot high water just metres from where a Sheffield man later drowned.

David Ashall, who supplied the footage to The Star after being given it by a workmate, said: "The video is shocking – I have never seen anything like that in my life.

"She was very lucky to have survived."

The elderly woman battled against the flow for more than a minute and was nearly dragged into the fast-flowing water after almost being hit by an industrial bin.

She was then helped to safety by one of the many people who had gathered to watch the water.

Later in the day a 68-year-old man drowned on The Wicker after getting into difficulty in fast-flowing floodwater.
