OLYMPIC gold medallist Darren Campbell headed into Meadowhall to hunt out Sheffield's athletics stars of the future by getting more youngsters involved in sport.
The sprinter was in town to encourage children to sign up for this summer's Street Athletics, a community focused event aimed at raising their aspirations and achievements through sport.
Youngsters are invited to race against each other over 60 metres, winning a chance to compete in the final in Manchester and win a year kit contract with Reebok.
Darren said: "We didn't set it up to find the next big star but to get young people interested in sport and just give them an opportunity to express themselves but along the way we have found some very talented sprinters.
"I believe if you give them enough options and things to participate in they will pick out what they wish to do. Young people feel there is nothing for them any more and I just want to show them that there are things out there for them to do and it is important for them to put their mind to it."
Street Athletics will be coming to Meadowhall on Saturday July 22 and Darren will be on hand to encourage youngsters to sign up.
