A CHARITY song against knife crime brought the Peace Gardens alive yesterday in a pop band performance to promote harmony between youngsters.
TV celebrities including Emmerdale's Danny Tennant have joined forces with band UK Flow to produce the song 'It Doesn't Have To Happen'.

Written by Sky TV's Dream Team actor Stephen Nicholas and former Hollyoaks star Lee Otway, it is hoped the record will raise thousands of pounds for charities working with young people.

The group, which also includes Luke Bailey and Elyes Gabel from Waterloo Road and Marvyn Williams from Shipwrecked, hope it will be adopted by youngsters as an anthem against knife crime.

It is being championed by stars including pop band Girls Aloud, champion boxers Johnny Nelson and Junior Witter, and the England football and rugby squads.

Sheffield Central MP Richard Caborn, who was at the Peace Gardens for the performance, said: "Any initiative that attempts to make a positive difference to a problem like knife crime is well worth supporting."

The track is also the name of a £3 million Government campaign urging young people not to carry knives.
