THE need to improve the quality of our children's education is of paramount importance.
Sheffield is 136th out of 150 councils when it comes to measuring the quality of education. That is appaling.
Deprivation is often cited as a reason why Sheffield appears to do so badly, but Sheffield has no more problems than many other towns and
cities.
The ruling Liberal Democrat group on the city council is saying that satisfactory is no longer good enough. The shame is that it ever was.
Now the Lib Dems say education is their number one priority as a council. They will be judged on that basis.
As Coun Andrew Sangar says: "Every Sheffield child deserves an excellent education".
It's time for that sentiment to be turned into reality
Freedoms must be protected for us allSHEFFIELD musician Bona Pjarren is being forced to live under siege.
Abused and threatened when he goes out, Mr Pjarren is a victim of prejudice and intolerance by yobs and who are making him ill.
It may seem like fun to some teenegares to shout name s and hound people because they look different but what they have to learn is that Mr Pjarren's right to look the way he wants to is the same right that allows them to get together and walk the streets as they feel.
People have a right to live as they wish if they do no harm to others.
Mr Pjarren's appearance is his own business but yob behaviour is a matter for the law and needs to be punished to protect all our freedoms.

One look at Captain Nick Faldo's bizarre team selections is enough to see why he's the one losing sleep now!
