ANOTHER weekend, another group of families grieving over the loss of their young men, stabbed to death in South Yorkshire.
The epidemic of knife crime is spreading through the country claiming victims in every town and city.

Two men died on Saturday night, one in Sheffield one in Doncaster and all the tears and regret in the world won't bring them back.

Somehow thi
s knife-carrying culture has taken hold and somehow it has to be broken.

All agencies have to play their part. Police, magistrates, schools and families and there can only be one message.

Carry a knife and you are more likely to be a victim of a knife, you will be in more danger, not less.

It is already too late to help the youngsters who have paid the ultimate price for others' bravado.

Don't ever carry a knife has to be the lesson from these tragic deaths.

Crossing demands cannot be ignored
WHEN a paediatric consultant says 3,500 children are at risk we should listen.

Cliff Bevan of Sheffield Children's Hospital, has lobbied councillors to put crossings near schools in Ecclesall.

He sees first-hand the devastation caused by road accidents and he has to walk his kids to school across Ringinglow Road.

It's a no-brainer. The area needs a crossing and warnings for drivers.
If we can afford new ring-roads, street furniture, water-features, and block-paving across half the city we can afford to make roads safe for kids.

Can't we?

Saving for Mr Right!
WHICH came first, the wedding or the man? Er, probably the former.
The perfect day now costs so muchmany girls are saving before they find a man, a survey tells us.

Perhaps the survey should also say the ideal wedding simply needs the words 'I do' and that big frocks and even bigger receptions are merely the icing on the cake!
