CALIFORNIAN sunshine should hopefuly give James Toseland more than a tan this weekend.
The Kiveton motoGP star James Toseland returns to one of his favourite circuits seeking a change of luck as marked as the difference in weather he has been subjected to recently.

Toseland finished 11th in the German rain last weekend, but remains in a reasonable overall ninth spot considering it is his debut motoGP season.

A decent ride on his Tech 3 Yamaha tomorrow in the 32-lap race at Laguna Seca will increase his confidence.

It is four years since he last performed there, but he says: "I'm really looking forward to racing at Laguna because it is one of my favourite tracks.

"I last raced there in 2004 and had a great scrap with Chris Vermeulen. It will be very interesting on a motoGP bike and I aim to enjoy it.

"It should be a great weekend with Yamaha also planning some special events. There were plenty of positives to take out of the German weekend ,but not the weather!"

Meanwhile, Colin Edwards will again partner Toseland in the colours of Tech 3 Yamaha next season.

The 34-year-old Texan, who has scored two podium finishes this year, has agreed a new one-year contract for the 2009 world championship campaign.

Yamaha managing director Lin Jarvis said: "We are happy to secure him."
