Former England captain Michael Vaughan failed with the bat once again as Yorkshire's batsmen struggled on another rain hit day of their LV Championship Division One match against Sussex at Scarborough.
Vaughan had made 19 out of 27 for one when he sparred at left-armer Jason Lewry in the second over after lunch and wicketkeeper Andy Hodd held the catch diving to his right.

Rain followed three overs later and when play resumed after a 26-over delay Yorkshire lost more wickets to close on 133 for seven in reply to Sussex's first-innings score of 265.

Vaughan's determination to win back his England place after resigning the captaincy is not going as planned because on his return to the Yorkshire side at North Marine Road last week he managed only 10 in the first innings and a duck.

When asked about rumours which linked him with a move to another county, Vaughan said: "I am not sure where this speculation is coming from and I am getting fed up of it. I am just looking forward to getting some form with Yorkshire."

Sussex were strongly placed when they resumed their innings on 203 for four and Hodd quickly moved off his overnight 66, sweeping Adil Rashid to the boundary and cutting Deon Kruis for four.

But Yorkshire soon took a grip of things as Rashid claimed two wickets in two balls, the leg-spinner trapping Hodd lbw for 81 off 174 deliveries with eight fours.

Rashid then turned one away from Robin Martin-Jenkins who was snapped up by Jacques Rudolph .
