Centre-half Kevin Austin's relegation to the Spireites' bench for the Chester City clash combined with left-back Alan Goodall's impending suspension from the trip to Lincoln City next weekend means a new, unwanted, club record will be set.
The Sincil Bank game will be Chesterfield's 11th league game of the season.

But there will not be oneplayer who will have appeared in all of them, making this season the quickest ever that the term 'ever present' can be dropped from the vocabulary of Spireites statistics.

Darnall-born goalkeeper Joe Mitchell, whose entire Chesterfield first team career consisted of the opening 13 games of the 1921-22 season, Spireites first back in Division Three (North) after failing to be re-elected in 1909 will, as a result, lose the tag of the previous shortest ever ever-present.

He went on to join Barnsley.

Manager Lee Richardson's side's failure to beat Chester means that only Port Vale and Grimsby Town, both sides that have changed their managers this season, have picked up fewer home points in League Two to date.

Lincoln will be sweating on the fitness of ex-Saltergate defender Janos Kovacs.

The Hungarian, who left Chesterfield in the summer, was subbed late on in the 1-1 draw with Rochdale with blood gushing from a wound just above his right eye.

He will need to convince the medical teamthat the wound will not be re-opened if he plays on Saturday.
